Juan Luis Cristo Jiménez

9-10-1950. Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz. Currently resides in Madrid.

Due to different circumstances of my life I have not been able to dedicate myself to my great vocation. I was unable to attend any school or training center to learn the trade. I am self-taught. What I have learned has been by copying the great masters, studying in the best museums in Europe, seeing many exhibitions and reading all the famous and ancient painting treatises, many painting books, and I have studied and worked all the techniques.

At the age of 17 I started as a copyist of the Prado Museum, and at the age of 17 I joined the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Circle of Fine Arts) in Madrid.

In the museum I have learned a lot and in the Círculo de Bellas Artes I have practised drawing from life making countless drawings and notes. It has been really hard, but I'm happy with what I've learned.
